OFSTED Report 2009

Downsell Primary School was formed after the amalgamation of the old Downsell Infants and Junior Schools in September 2003. Our ‘new’ and improving school is set within a socially and economically disadvantaged area. The school has over 50% of its pupils eligible for FSM and over 79% of the pupils have English as a second language. Nearly 337 % of pupils are identified as having some type of Special Needs.

Our school is a recognised provider of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) placements and was, until procedures changed recently, a training school. The school has won several awards, including Activemark and the International School Award. The school runs a breakfast club and a wide variety of after school activities.
